INVITATION TO A PRESS CONFERENCE TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE NEW COMMISSIONERS AFTER ITS STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION
HELD ON 04 – 06 FEBRUARY 2025

The Honourable President, Cyril Ramaphosa recently appointed a new team of Commissioners effective from 02 January 2025 to lead the Commission for the period of 2025 – 2030. This team of Commissioners were sworn in today by Judge T.P. Mudau at the Gauteng Division of the Hight Court.
These CRL Rights Commissioners together with management are currently holding a strategic planning session on 04 – 06 February 2025. Some of the critical issues being considered relate to the challenges of initiation, particularly interventions designed to deal with the deaths of initiates, abuses of people in the cultural and religious places, and emergence of certain phenomenon in relationship to the religious and cultural environments.
Members of the media are invited to an urgent press conference at which the new leadership led by its Chairperson, Mrs Thoko Mkhwanazi-Xaluva will present its strategy in terms of how they will address the challenges impacting the Cultural, Religious and Linguistic communities. In addition, the Commission will outline some of the urgent investigations that they will embark on within the next five years. Furthermore, the Commission will share possible strategies aimed at helping the equalisation and treatment of all the official languages including the promotion of sign language.
